How to apply ?

Admission requirements

Up to 15 positions are available each year. The applicants must have a Bachelor degree in Engineering, Aeronautics and Space, Physics, Applied mathematics, Computer science or any other degrees with a strong background in mathematics. The final deadline for registration is June 15. However, in order to increase the chance of admission to the program it is recommended to apply as early as possible starting in November of the previous year. The candidates should apply online here. The instructions and required documents can be found on this website (section online application).

Fees

The tuition fees are 7000€ per year (except for French applicants). This covers only a fraction of the expenses as education is heavily subsidised in France. Moreover, it should be stressed that the Master students receive and allowance of at least 600€ per month during their internships (compulsory for French companies for internships over 2 months).

Fellowship opportunities

Fellowships are available from different institutions either in France or from your own country. Some are listed below which are not exclusive. You should inquire in your own country about the available funding sources. The deadline for the applications for a fellowship are usually more than 10 months before the starting date of the program meaning that early applications to the master program are recommended in order to be able to apply to these fellowships. The host institutions have special agreement with IISc Bengaluru India

The cost of living for a student in Lille or Poitiers is estimated at 800€ to 1000€ per month (about 400€ per month for accommodation)

Application process

The application procedure is open from September 1st to June 15th. The selection committee meets 5 times during this period to review the new applications. However, as the number of candidates selected does not exceed 20, to increase your chance of admission to the program it is recommended to apply as early as possible.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in science or engineering discipline which lends itself to the study of Turbulence, e.g. Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics or Applied Mathematics.

The admission stage consists of a qualitative and extensive evaluation of the whole application file.

We especially assess the applicants’ strengths and potential to succeed by checking

  • their academic performance;
  • their motivation for the requested program;
  • their personal background;
  • the coherence of their professional project.

The academic background is assessed with the utmost care. Academic performance, especially in mathematics,  is a key element in the selection of our future students. Applicants must rank among the best students in their class.

Applicants selected from the first stage are invited to take part in a 30-minutes discussion over their motivation and skills with a panel composed of the program scientific director and several lecturers.

Applicants will receive the final decision maximum one week after the interview.
